Graphical abstract

We report the novel poly (methyl methacrylate)-functionalized graphene/polyurethane dielectric elastomer composites with superior electric field induced strain. The three-dimensional (3D) electric field induced displacement and strain of dielectric elastomer film surface was observed and measured for the first time.
