Inspired by the role of electron transport chain in chloroplast, the graphene (G) was successfully functionalized by zinc 5, 10, 15, 20-tetraphenylporphyrin (ZnTPP), forming G/ZnTPP composite. In which, the synergistic between graphene sheets and ZnTPP endows such composite with improved photo-electrochemical behaviors.

Homogenous Co3O4 nanocubes are successfully fabricated on few-layer graphene sheets (FLGS), while only dispersed and large clusters of Co3O4 can be made on graphene oxide (GO). The Co3O4/FLGS composites exhibit higher stability in lithium-ion storage capacity than Co3O4/GO. The crystal growth mechanism on few-layer graphene and graphene oxide are studied with various characterization methods.
