Graphical abstractCarborane-appended polystyrenes were synthesized. The material was used to coat graphene oxides to improve thermo and oxidative stability of grapheme oxides in airflow. Palladium nanoparticles (Pd-NPs) were supported on carborane-appended polystyrenes. The well-dispersed polystyrene supported small Pd-NPs were found to be a highly efficient and recyclable catalyst for the selective oxidation of glycerol to 1,3-dihydroxyacetone.
