Graphical abstractThe graphene/semiconductor optoelectronic devices are very unique as the Fermi level of graphene is highly tunable and the junction itself is located at the surface, which facilitates the enhancement of surface plasmon. We have incorporated the light manipulation techniques and physical modulation techniques and the device physics into the single solar cell unit. We have indicated that a power conversion efficiency over 30% can be achieved for this unique graphene/semiconductor heterostructure device.
