Graphical AbstractA graphene/tourmaline/TiO2 composite system with enhanced photocatalytic activity in the degradation of 2-propanol was synthesized. The superior electronic conductivity of graphene and the electrostatic field on the tourmaline nanoparticle surfaces facilitate the separation and transportation of electrons and holes photogenerated in TiO2.
