Design principles are developed for p-block heteroatom-doped graphene as efficient IRR catalysts through density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Descriptors relating intrinsic properties of dopant elements are identified to establish a quantitative relationship that correlates the doped structures to catalytic activities. The proposed design principles enable us to rationally design and search for highly active catalysts.

A rapid and ultrasensitive electrochemiluminescence competitive immunoassay for diclofenac (DCF) based on Ce:ZnO and Ab-PdNPs/PEI-GO-QDs was put forward. The rapid Ce4+ ↔ Ce3+ reaction in this Ce:ZnO could increased the rate of electron transfer to achieve signal amplification. Moreover, large surface area of GO could anchored many CdSe@CdS QDs to amplify ECL signal. It has been used in the detection of real samples with satisfactory results, indicating a promising method for trace DCF and other small molecular compounds.
