5.Synthesis of Nitrogen-doped Graphene from Ployacrylonitrile
Materials Letters, Available online 26 July 2013, Pages
Hui Gao, Lei Guo, Lanxi Wang, Yunfei Wang

Graphical abstract

A facile thermal annealing approach to prepare large-area, high quanlity and mostly single-layer N-doped graphene sheets using PAN thin film as the precursor. Pyrrolic-like N atoms are proposed an essential component in N-doped graphene sheets.

6.Mass production of graphene oxide from expanded graphite
Materials Letters, Available online 26 July 2013, Pages
Ling Sun, Bunshi Fugetsu

Graphical abstract

Expanded graphite was adopted to prepare graphene oxide and the traditional Hummers' method was adapted, especially for the mid-temperature reaction. A spontaneous-expansion step was introduced to indicate the sufficient intercalation of graphite. Preparation of GO became much safer and more stable in high yield than that by the unmodified method.
