Graphical abstractEffect of change in intercalating agent (addition of HNO3) for the preparation of graphene oxide (GO) through Hummers method has been studied. The morphology and microstructure of GO synthesized via this approach confirms the improved exfoliation of graphite resulting for enhancement in yield of GO within short processing time.
