The SGO was prepared via a temperate and easily handled method and showed high adsorption behavior for adsorbing heavy metals ions and dyes. The high capacities of SGO was elucidated in comparison with rSGO, rGO, and GO based on their microstructures. It also explained the adsorption mechanism between Pb2+ and MB.
