Graphical abstract

Porous crumpled graphene (PCG) with micropores on the graphene sheets and mesopores and macropores constructed by the graphene was firstly synthesized; PCG showed high surface utilization efficiency as electrode in supercapacitor due to the unique structure, the specific capacitance per surface area was 20.7 μF cm-2, which is much higher than that of the traditional activated carbon (6.0 μF cm-2) and porous graphene (6.5 μF cm-2), approaching the theoretical value of graphene (20.9 μF cm-2).Image 1
