Graphical abstractIn this paper, the 3D Co3O4/GO catalyst showed fine 3D ordered mesoporous structures. The synergistic effect of graphene oxide and Co3O4 made the 3D Co3O4/GO catalyst with the ethanol as solvent showed excellent catalytic activity and the cycle stability. The solvent influenced catalytic activity by changed the ratio of Co3+ and numbers of contained-oxygen groups. Based on this, the 3D Co3O4/GO(ET) catalyst presented superior catalytic activity and cycle stability.Image 1

Graphical abstractThe as-obtained MoO2/GL-C3N4 photocatalyst with 2% MoO2 exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity, approximately 4.2 times as high as monomer GL-C3N4. Corresponding to the ESR and trapping experiments results, the possible photocatalytic mechanism confirmed that holes and •O2- played important parts during the RhB photo-degradation process.
